Bangkok Holiday Tour Review: Flight of the Gibbon Adventure Tour

Flight of the Gibbon Bangkok Tour My family and I travel to Bangkok regularly, and we are always looking for new tours and activities to check out. Flight of the Gibbon, well-known for their zip line canopy tour in Chiang Mai, recently opened a new tour located between Bangkok and Pattaya. It is a gorgeous location – right between the untouched wilderness of Chompoo Wildlife Sanctuary and the Khao Kheo Zoo (entry into the zoo is included in the price of the tour).

Although my wife was nervous about heights when we first went on Flight of the Gibbon in Chiang Mai, she became comfortable soon. So she was gung-ho to go on this one. And the kids were ecstatic. We started with a nice hike through the forest, with our guide pointing out lots of little details we didn’t notice, such as the sour ga-taan fruit the primates eat and some unique species of bamboo. The ziplines started small and not so high off the ground. As we progressed, they got longer and higher. Occasionally we could see the ocean while zipping along above the lower canopy. By the end, our family was perched WAY above the forest floor on a platform (safely clipped in). It was an unforgettable position. We slowly descended to the forest floor – which was as exciting as ascending.

After, we ate marvelous food at the ending sala while talking about the trip highlights. After we were refreshed and rested, we toured the zoo (Check out the hyena. They are much bigger than on TV!). The zoo, called an “Open Safari” is fairly well done and the animals have quite a bit of room to roam.

Flight of the Gibbon dropped us off back in Bangkok (they also pickup and drop off in Pattaya). During our dinner, the kids still kept talking about the tour. This tour was definitely the highlight of our trip, and something we will continue to go back to. Soon they plan on opening another tour at the same location called “Go Gibbon”. Think of an adult playground (with kids welcome) in the jungle. Maybe like a Jungle Gym.

Overall, highly recommended – something not to miss even if you only have a couple of days in the Bangkok – Pattaya area.

Bangkok, Thailand – A short video recently shot on site in the Thai capital.

Recent unrest has plagued the city as protesters have demonstrated against the current government which they see as linked to the former elected Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who now lives in exile in Britain.

does anyone know where I can find cheap and decent accommodation and tours in Phuket, Bangkok and Chiang Mai?

Any good websites you can recommend? Where abouts in the area should we stay to be close to shops and entertainment? What is the best way to get around Thailand?
Cheers!

In Phuket, you can search through www.phuket.com All the areas here you can enjoy shopping & any entertainment. Then it depends on your most desire what to do in the island. If you love night life, I would suggest Patong. Less tourist & more quiet would be Kata or Karon. Centre which easy to transfer to other parts & enjoy shopping may be in town. For very quiet beach or enjoy golfing would be Naiyang beach. There are many hotels (budget – 5-star) and guest house or even bungalow.

Today’s quite easy to go around Thailand between tourist destination by budget flights (AirAsia or NokAir). But most of the route would like to/from Bangkok.

Enjoy your trip in Thailand!

Where is the best value accommodation in Bangkok, preferably below 1000 baht per night?

The Business Inn on Soi11/1 and Sukhumvit Road. Right in the heart of the action. 650 thb per night stay one night, leave a couple days, come back again. Clean and convenient, I doubt you will find something this price that is clean with a comfortable bed. They have travel agency in the lobby as well for all your day trip needs or what ever else you might want to know. recommended on www.visualthailand.com
