I’ve got accommodation provided. Juz wanna know costs for food travelling around, some moderate shopping and sightseeing. Also what are some of the best places to go in bangkok. Thanx.
since you son’t have to pay for accommodation (assume it’s only in Bkk) then here are my estimates (Pls note, I’m Thai).
Food: 60 – 120/meal say 500 bht/day (if you don’t have it in expensive restaurants). One bottle of large beer is ~ 28 – 70 bht depending on brand
7 x3x (150+70) = 4,620 bht max .. For me I spend <1,000 bht/a week
Taxi should cost you 100-120 bht/trip (within 8 km)
if take other transprtation, bus, sky train..say 10 – 30 /trip depending on how far (max 40 bht/trip..end to end)
domestic air fare within the country – low cost if booked in advance vary from few hundreds bht to 4-5000 bht (return trip).
Train fares vary on class, for 2nd class sleeping bogey to the north/souththern provinces are ~ 1000+
Other national park, palace entrance fees are ~ 100 – 200 bhts. many are free of charge.
Hope it helps

shopping is great in Bangkok.
I’d bring $500-1000 USD. Or use your cash card at the many many atm machines. You’ll get an okay rate; just make sure you are SUPER careful with your cash. Enjoy.

ARe you staying downtown?

The basic costs are reasonable as outlined above – - taxis are cheap.. food, outside of the fancy hotels is quite reasonable as well.. if you want to do sightseeing, there will most likely be day tours from your hotel, Ayuddhaya, Bridge over the River Kwai, etc.. and these too are not expensive, but the easiest thing is to make sure you have your ATM card along and can change whenever you desire..
I find sometimes, because things are so reasonable, it is a good place to over-indulge a little because you are getting such good value for your money.. I just had a friend here for 4 days and I think he spent more than he expected but he had the time of his life too.. music, friends coming along etc.. he can’t wait to come back – - Enjoy!!
